After completing my undergraduate degree in Advertising Communications in Santo Domingo, I continued my studies in Milan, where I studied fashion and still life photography, while doing freelance work and assisting commercial photographers. After coming back to Dominican Republic, I discovered documentary photography by chance when I volunteered as an interpreter for the 2008 Somos Foto workshop in Santo Domingo. Over the following years, I started attending photojournalism classes, like the Missouri Photo Workshop. I finally decided to leave advertising photography behind and spend time documenting stories and people’s daily lives. I was awarded the Fulbright scholarship for my Master’s in Journalism (Photojournalism) at the University of Missouri. After completing the program, I returned to my country to keep telling stories through images, working as a documentary filmmaker and freelance photographer for clients like The New York Times, Associated Press, Al Jazeera America and others. 

In 2013, I got the grant FONPROCINE to produce my first feature-length documentary film, "Nana", which premiered at the Havana Film Festival in 2015 and traveled around the festival circuit through 2016. My second feature, “Santo Domingo Waltz” (2021) also won the FONPROCINE 2017 production grant and the 2020 Su Mirada postproduction Award (IFF Panama). The film premiered at Guadalajara International Film Festival in 2021, where it was awarded Honorable Mention for Best Feature Documentary from Ibero-America. Luego de terminar la licenciatura en Comunicación Publicitaria, me mudé a Milán, donde estudié fotografía de moda y de productos mientras trabajaba como fotógrafa freelance y asistente para varios fotógrafos comerciales. Luego de regresar a Dominicana, descubrí la fotografía documental por casualidad al ser voluntaria en el taller Somos Foto 2008 en Santo Domingo. Así empecé a asistir a varias clases de fotoperiodismo, incluyendo el reconocido Missouri Photo Workshop. Finalmente, decidí dejar atrás la fotografía publicitaria para dedicarme a documentar historias y el día a día de la gente de mi comunidad. Recibí la beca Fulbright para realizar la Maestría en Periodismo (Fotoperiodismo) en la Universidad de Missouri. Al completar mis estudios, me regresé a República Dominicana para seguir contando historias con imágenes, trabajando como documentalista y como fotógrafa freelance para empresas locales y medios internacionales como The New York Times, Associated Press, Al Jazeera América, entre otros.

En el 2013, recibí el premio FONPROCINE para producir mi primer largometraje documental, "Nana", el cual se estrenó en el Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano en La Habana en el 2015 y recorrió el circuito de festivales a lo largo del 2016. Mi segundo largometraje documental, “Vals de Santo Domingo” (2021) también ganó el premio de producción FONPROCINE 2017 y el Premio Su Mirada 2020 de postproducción (IFF Panama). Estrenó en 2021 en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Guadalajara (FICG36) donde recibió la Mención Honorífica Mejor Documental Iberoamericano.
